What is liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure which removes excess fat in selected areas to improve the shape and contour of the body.
Q - Who is a candidate for liposuction?
Men and women who are in fit and healthy and looking to improve the body shape be good candidates for liposuction. Liposuction should not be confused with gaining a weight loss benefit. Liposuction simply removes areas of excess fat cells, which help to re-contour the body shape. Ideally clients who have lost excess weight due to diet and excercise, who simply cannot remove the stubborn areas of fat that remain are an ideal candidate for this procedure.
Men and women who are around their normal weight and who have firm, elastic skin, but have stubborn pockets of excess fat in certain parts of their body, buttocks, abdomen, flanks ("love handles"), thighs, hips ("saddlebags"), upper arms, knees, breasts, chin ("double chins"), neck, cheeks may also be suitable candidates.
The patient's age is not usually a factor (note: you must be over 18 years old), but it may not be suitable for older men or women whose skin is not elastic. It is not recommended for anyone with such problems as diabetes, serious heart or lung disease, or poor circulation, or those who have recently had other surgery near the problem area.
